First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FICO.
Solutions Engineer
The interview was pretty chill and professional. I talked to one person on a panel. First, I did a quick intro, then they asked me about my main school subjects. After that, they asked me about my favorite data structure and then asked follow-up questions based on my answer. The questions were more about understanding concepts than just memorizing stuff. It was moderately hard, and the interviewer was nice and encouraging the whole time.
- Can you tell me about your core academic subjects?
- Which data structure do you find most comfortable to work with?
- Could you solve a coding problem using the sliding window technique?
Solution Engineer
The interview had two rounds, and both were technical. In the first round, the interviewer asked me questions about my resume and technical terms related to my content, like Postman, the databases I used in my web development project, and different types of databases and URLs. They also asked me some advanced OOP concepts and then two coding problems. The second round involved questions about OOP concepts, an explanation of some sorting techniques, and some HR questions.
- How can we count the occurrences of numbers without consuming extra memory?
Solutions Engineer
The process felt completely biased. They asked about my Engineering background, not software-related stuff, and mostly HR-type questions. There were supposed to be two rounds, but I got rejected after the first one. If you're from a CS background, you've got a better shot because if you're not, they assume you don't have the right technical knowledge.
- Can you tell me about how you got started in software development?
