So I applied via email to the manager, then got a call from a TA coordinator who asked basic stuff like "why this job?" and "salary expectations?". After that, I had an interview with a scientist about my education and experience. If that went well, I had a panel interview with three scientists, which was similar to the previous one, focusing on my background and education. There were some behavioral questions too, but no technical ones. The interviews were spread over two days: one 1-hour interview with two scientists and a 30-minute interview with the third. You usually hear back in 5-10 business days.

A recruiter reached out about my application. I did a phone screen, and the recruiter was happy to advance me. After a week, we scheduled time with my potential manager. I did great in that interview, and my manager was excited and impressed by my background and wanted to move me to the next stage. The next step was a 2-hour assessment. I finished the assessments and did well. Two weeks later, after over a month of back and forth, the recruiter said they wanted me to come in for a panel interview with 4 people. I met the team and did really well, and they seemed keen to discuss what's next. Then, radio silence. I sent a thank you email, then a follow-up a week later... still nothing. Then, a month after my panel interview, they called at 5pm to say they hired someone else. The whole process took 3 months, and communication was spotty and annoying.

So, I applied and went through the interview process. It started with a 20 minute phone screening, then I had an interview with the team's lead, and finally met with the whole team. Everyone was nice and asked good questions. The whole thing took about 2-3 weeks. The recruiter said the feedback was good and I'd hear back soon about the job, but I never did. I even followed up, but still no word. It's been a few weeks now. I get that people are busy, but ghosting someone who got that far is a bad look. It shows how they might treat employees too. It's pretty discouraging to put in the effort to prepare for interviews and then get no response from the company. If they aren't going to follow up, they shouldn't waste a candidate's time. Just be careful if you decide to interview with them and don't get your hopes up too high.
