First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ferguson.
Manager
The initial phase involved a self-directed, one-way video and written questionnaire. I found this approach off-putting because interviews are meant to be a two-way exchange, and this format prevents any real interaction or insight into the company culture. Some questions also didn't align with the job description or requirements, which struck me as a rather lazy recruiting effort.
- What are your salary expectations?
Manager
Met the company at a job fair where there was a pre-screen with HR. After that there was a 1:1 with Regional HR and a reference check. After that there was a 1:1 with Market-level management and finally a 1:1 with District Manager. Open email communication with the regional HR manager that I was working with. Perceptions were good, everyone was a straight-shooter and there weren't any of the 'interview games'. As with any job interview -- be confident, be prepared, prove that you want it.
- How will you gain respect from people in the industry considering you have no experience in it.
Proposal Manager
I applied online and then got an email with a link for an on-demand interview. I didn't know what that was at first, but it turned out to be a one-way interview. Honestly, I think it's pretty insulting and concerning that a company wants a video of me talking to nobody. So, I decided not to continue.
- Could you please record a video introducing yourself?
