& Process

It started with 2 phone screen rounds with HR about my background and interest in the company. They also asked about my typing style, familiarity with Apple devices, and how I celebrate special occasions. The main interview was a third video call with the project team. I had to prepare a 'candidate hypothesis' slide about my strengths, weaknesses, and interest in consulting. The call began with introductions from three FENIX people (Senior Consultant and Project Lead level). Then I presented my slide and answered questions. The rest was open Q&A where they asked standard questions like how I handle workplace challenges and what kind of leader I am. The last 5 minutes were for my questions. It was a pleasant experience, helpful to meet the team I'd be working with.

I went through three interviews and a task, and the whole thing took over a month. First, I talked to HR, then met the team. After that, they gave me a test task, which I finished and sent back early. Then, they set up another meeting to go over it. We had that meeting, and the team seemed really happy with my work. I felt good about how it went. They said they'd get back to me the next week, but they never did. It's pretty disappointing and makes me feel like I wasted a month on something that didn't go anywhere.

I applied in late September and got an initial HR interview pretty quickly. We talked about why I was interested in consulting and the firm. Then, I had to prepare and give a presentation about myself, and they asked more questions after that. The next step was what they called the final stage, where I had to do a 3-hour task researching and making a presentation on a topic. After that, I was invited to talk about the role's tasks with the team, but it was actually another interview without any heads-up or chance to prepare. Even though it was unexpected, I think I did okay. A couple of weeks later, they said they liked my profile but suggested I reapply in the future. I asked for feedback since the process was so long but never heard back, even after following up. The whole thing felt unorganized and poorly communicated, making me wonder about their overall HR practices.

Had a first 30min virtual chat with HR focusing on general personality type questions. After that, a second 1hr virtual meeting with the project team, which involved presenting a candidate hypothesis and answering several questions, some of which were science-related. I didn't get to the next step, but they hinted that a case study would likely follow. Generally, they were nice people and preferred direct answers. The worst part is that they never provided any feedback, even after I requested it multiple times.
