First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Feeding America.
Web Specialist
I applied online and they invited me to schedule a 30-minute interview with the hiring manager and HR. It was a respectful, friendly, and natural conversation. The same day, I was invited to a 1-hour interview for the following week. In the second round, I presented a case study of a previous project to 3 managers and the 2 from the first round. This round felt a bit unfocused and vague, partly because it wasn't clear how all these interviewers were connected to each other and the open position. I got rejected a week later, and the HR manager was very kind to give some brief personalized feedback on my performance. Both interviews were on WebEx, and I had some technical difficulties with that platform that affected my confidence.

Public Benefits Access Specialist
The interview process started with an initial chat with the hiring manager, then there was a final panel interview with 3 folks from the Public Benefits Access Team. I really enjoyed talking with the hiring manager and the team; they were all super passionate about what they do and very welcoming. The main hiccup was with the salary offer and negotiation part. It was super quick, and I think I was their top choice. Even with my background and master's degree, they only offered the lowest possible salary within the 60-74k+ range. HR wouldn't negotiate on salary, which seems to be a common thing here. I had to turn down the offer because the salary was too low.

Communications Specialist
A recruiter contacted me in November 2023 to set up an interview. The communication was spotty during the whole process. I gave my availability a bunch of times before they set up an interview with the hiring manager in December. The hiring manager was cool, and the interview itself wasn't hard. A couple of weeks later, I had to do a writing test with two parts. The last interview was a panel. After that, the recruiter said I'd get an update in a few weeks. I never heard back. If the process had been like 2 to 3 weeks, I wouldn't have minded the ghosting. But it took almost three months. They could've at least told me I didn't get the job. It felt unprofessional and disorganized. Apparently, this kind of thing happens a lot at Feeding America based on other reviews.

Social Media Manager
Applied online, got a call to come in for an interview, which I did, and it seemed to go pretty well. Then I was asked to come back for another interview. I was put in a conference room on a floor where you needed a key to get out. The receptionist was out sick, and the interviewers were supposed to meet me in the room, but two of them never showed up. I kept calling the main receptionists desk (the only number I had on my cell phone) and had to wait an hour and a half before someone came to get me. After all that, I got a form letter rejection for the job. It was a really strange experience.
