Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Federal-Mogul.
Intern
First, there was some prep work. Then, a friendly greeting and introduction. After that, they asked me questions about my skills and experience. We also talked about specific competencies. I got to ask the candidate questions about the company and the role. The interview was summarized, and I was told about the next steps. It ended on a friendly note.
- How do you handle workplace stress?
Intern
I had two phone interviews initially, then I was invited for an onsite visit. During the onsite, I went through 4 interviews with different departments. A manager told me that if I received an offer, I should consider joining his department. I felt good about my performance and believed I would get the offer. A couple of weeks later, after not hearing back from HR, I followed up. HR then scheduled another interview with a different manager, which also went well. After inquiring about the status again a week later, HR finally called to inform me that I was not selected. I asked for the reason, as I felt I performed exceptionally well and the managers had indicated the same. However, the HR avoided my questions and ended the call. It was a very frustrating experience with the interview process and the HR's lack of timely communication and transparency regarding the decision.
- Can you tell me about your career aspirations?
- What do you consider your strongest qualities?
- What is one area you could improve on, according to your past supervisor?
Intern
I applied online and then talked to someone at a career fair. A few weeks later, I had a quick phone screen with HR. A few days after that, they invited me to their facility for interviews. I had a couple 1-on-1s with engineers, and then a group of people interviewed me in another area of the facility. After the interviews, I was given a tour of the facility.
- Can you tell me more about your past experience and projects?
- Tell me about your background and any projects you've worked on.
- What experience and projects do you have that are relevant to this role?
