Interior Designer
I interviewed with the team leads and then the company owner. I met most of the office team, and a couple of other employees or builders were there by happenstance. And of course the receptionist was there too.
- What made you want to be an interior designer?
Junior Designer
So I had a 30 minute first interview that I thought went pretty well. Then like two weeks later I got a call for a second interview. When I got there, the person I was supposed to meet wasn't in the office. So I ended up talking to someone who didn't know anything about design and couldn't answer basic design questions. They told me I'd have a proper second interview to talk about my design background. But then the next week, I got a rejection email that was sent to me and eight other people at the same time. When I asked why I didn't get a real second interview, they just said they thought I already had one and rejected me based on that. The HR person was super unprofessional, and the lack of communication and transparency made me glad I didn't get the job.
- Can you discuss your previous work experience?
Interior Designer
The whole process was wrapped up in under a month. Ashley was really nice and helpful. Both interviews were pretty standard, nothing out of the blue. It was kind of odd that they didn't ask about my portfolio or any previous work. The interviewer was a bit late for the second interview, but it was no big deal. While I was waiting, four different people checked in and offered me a drink. I was super nervous at first, but by the third person, I was trying not to laugh. Overall, I had a good experience with FBC; the staff seem happy and incredibly attentive.
