The hiring/interview process was very unorganized. It started with a recruiter screening, followed by a 1st interview with the hiring manager. Then a 2nd interview with a Sr. Manager. After that, the recruiter called me to schedule another interview with a manager in the office, but it wasn't the hiring manager for the role I applied for. Then the recruiter called again to schedule a 4th & 5th round with peer interviews. It seemed like the hiring manager and recruiter weren't communicating because the recruiter seemed embarrassed when calling to schedule more interviews. I knew I would decline an offer from an organization that couldn't even get its hiring process aligned after my second trip to the office.

I applied in March and got a call in late May, about two months later. They usually start interviews later on. The first interview was a phone call the day after they left a voicemail. The voicemail listed things they wanted to know, like what classes I had taken and why I was interested in the role. The interview covered those topics and then some more.

A connection referred me, which led to an initial call. Then, I had to meet with several people at different levels within the company. The questions they asked were quite professional and pointed. They really dug into my resume and asked about my past experiences. They did let me explain where my current skills might be lacking compared to what they are looking for.

They give you a test with mortgage questions on it. I met several friendly people who have been there for six or seven years. It started in 2008. I sat with one of the account reps for 15 minutes who explained his day-to-day activity. They were in the middle of a charitable backpack drive, and the lobby was filled with backpacks.
