So, before the next round, they had me do this big project where I had to make a PowerPoint presentation about trends in the category. It was basically a full project. They mentioned it was a "new step" and gave me only 72 hours to finish it. As a buyer with 7 years of experience, I've never been asked to do work for free, and I wouldn't expect that from someone I'm hiring. I'd already heard some worrying things from people working there, but this really proved it. Making candidates do strategic work without pay shows they don't respect talent and are willing to exploit people's time and skills. I get that someone desperate for a job might do it, but seriously, your ideas, time, and professional knowledge are valuable and should always be compensated.

Recruiter call Technical screen Onsite Panel

The interview started with a phone screen, but details were scarce on what to expect or the next steps. I was later given a list of interviewers, but their titles weren't clear and it was uncertain if it was a panel. I also got a confusing seven-page parking document meant for employees. When I asked for clarification, my concerns were dismissed. Privacy was also an issue, as non-hiring employees were going to be present for discussions about salary history and past roles, which should be kept between decision-makers. I brought this up, but the recruiter was evasive. Only after pushing did I learn that the next part involved several in-person photo retouching 'test' days, which is a significant time commitment that wasn't mentioned upfront. As a seasoned pro with a solid portfolio, I don't do live demos for an audience. The panel interview seemed to focus more on 'culture fit' and group opinions than actual skills, with junior staff giving input based on 'vibes.' Fashion Nova used the 'startup' excuse, but they've been around for 20 years. I pulled out and declined the panel meeting due to the many red flags. Afterward, the recruiter sent a passive-aggressive message blaming me for raising valid points. Be careful.

I had a phone screen, then virtual and in-person interviews. The setup was professional and the staff were professional. They asked about my payroll processing assessments, and confirmed that time and attendance experience is a must. They also asked about labor laws and compliance. I was impressed by their experience in the payroll field processing.

I went through more than 4 interviews here and they kept saying I didn't have the experience they were looking for, even though they knew my background from the first interview and did a technical screening. I told them upfront what I had experience in, and they wasted my time. The in-person interview was unprofessional; no one greeted me at the door. Some interviewers lacked proper tech credentials, with one even having a theater/acting certificate and a history of job-hopping. This person was also late to our Zoom call, rude, and seemed to dislike my questions about the company and its projects. It seems like a messy and unprofessional place with a toxic culture, and many people seem unhappy.
