First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FARO Technologies.
Sales Development Representative
The interview process with FARO was super smooth and fast. I had three interviews that were quick but covered everything, and I only waited a few days between each one. I also did a take-home assignment where I had to figure out companies that could use the FARO ScanArm. It really helped me understand the product and the market, and I liked that it was tough but also didn't waste my time.
- Tell me about your work experience.
- What are your hobbies or what do you like to do outside of work?
- Which companies do you think would gain from using the FARO ScanArm?
Data Director
They let me know upfront that the hiring process might take a while, which I appreciated because it showed they really wanted to find the right person. I had a few interviews over about a month, and I made sure to send thank you notes after each one. But then they just stopped responding and didn't reply to my follow-up emails. It's a bit disappointing because I expected a company that asked for patience with a longer process to also respect the time of the candidates. The people I met were nice, but they really missed the mark on the overall experience. It makes me wonder if they struggle with making decisions or communicating effectively as a company.
- Could you describe who holds the ultimate responsibility for data governance?
Customer Care Specialist
A recruiter reached out and shared a job description. I mentioned upfront I only wanted fully remote roles. After talking to the recruiter, I interviewed with the hiring manager. That's when I found out it wasn't fully remote and the contract was for only 18 months. The recruiter hadn't mentioned this, and it wasn't in the job ad. I told the manager it wouldn't work for me. We continued talking generally, but it felt like a waste of time for both of us.
- Could you tell me about your background?
Optical Systems Engineer
I applied for this job in August 2019 because my experience was a strong match. The first step was a phone interview with the hiring manager and some engineers where they asked about my background. I then went on-site for a second round of interviews. I thought these interviews went well and received positive feedback on my experience and technical knowledge. Both of these initial stages wrapped up within a month. After that, it was a long wait. I followed up with HR repeatedly, but they kept saying no decision had been made. Despite multiple emails requesting feedback, I eventually received notification after four months that they wouldn't be proceeding with my application. Interestingly, the job posting remained active for over a year, and they reposted it frequently, which made me question their actual hiring needs or perhaps if visa sponsorship was an issue.
- Regarding the FARO Arm, which resembles a robotic arm used for 3D positioning, can you explain how its 3D position would be determined?
