Behavioral Presentation

After finishing my bachelor's degree, I moved to Washington State and needed to find work quickly. I sent out over 50 applications on CareerBuilder, hoping for a job. To my surprise, I got many calls, emails, and voicemails about potential positions because of my resume. Farmers contacted me early on, so I decided to pursue that opportunity. A business consultant called me in for an interview, but I wasn't sure what the role was at first, which made me a bit nervous. It turned out to be for an entry-level agent position where I would start my own business. They told me I would have to pay for my licensing and sell about 40 car insurance policies and 4 housing insurance policies before I could even get a base salary, to avoid 'embarrassing the company' if I wasn't performing well. I had a second interview with the district manager who mainly talked about Farmers' success and competitive standing. It was a bad experience overall and not suitable for college graduates, which was why I even considered it.

Behavioral Other

The interview took place at a district office where they were hiring agents. The whole thing made me feel uneasy, bordering on a pyramid scheme vibe. I tried to get concrete details, but they just kept repeating, 'you're going to make a lot of money.' Money isn't my main motivation. If they genuinely wanted good people for the brand, I'd expect them to be eager to answer direct and thoughtful questions. It felt like they just needed bodies to fill spots. Also, asking for $69 upfront for my own background check was pretty strange.

Behavioral Technical

Farmers reached out after seeing my resume on a job board for an agent role. The hiring person was great and answered everything I asked about pay structure, training length, and work setup (if it's remote or office-based). She emphasized it's all sales until a quota is met, then the company offers support. She mentioned my financial retail sales background was fine, as they hire agents from diverse fields. She also said there would be a 5-question online part sent via email, which wasn't too hard and was mainly to confirm my work history.
