Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Farm Bureau Financial Services.
Agent
Started with an in person interview to talk about being an agent for FBFS. Then got a packet to do Project 150 (find 150 people and rate selling ease) and 10 Market Research Surveys (ask 10 questions about current insurance and interest in discussing options). The hiring manager rescheduled the second interview due to a meeting, but it never happened. Instead, I got a series of questions to answer, which took a few hours. Waited two weeks for a response. Then got instructions for a pre-licensing course with no clear steps. The assistant helped start an Examfx account. Emailed the hiring manager multiple times for guidance over three weeks, but still no response.
- Why should we invest our time and money in you?
- What motivates you to want to sell insurance?
- What contributions can you make to FBFS?
Agent
After being identified as a candidate, you'll have a phone chat with a district manager. Then, you'll get invited for a pretty standard interview. On the second interview, they'll ask more questions, and if they're thinking about hiring you, you'll get some paperwork. The third meeting was really casual, including a dinner with the manager to ask final questions. The fourth meeting was just to sign the paperwork and finalize the agreement.
- In a scenario where you're unsure of the correct course of action, what would be your approach?
Agent
The interviewer was the Assistant Manager, who has experience in both selling and training. They asked some pointed questions about professional sales experience, which might be challenging for someone without that background. There was no preliminary HR meeting, but the overall interview process was great, with the interviewer being very open about company information. The interview included technical and case-based questions.
- Do you have sales ability?
