The process started with a quick 20-minute phone chat with HR. About a week later, I went to their office for an interview with the manager and team lead. Then, two weeks after that, I was back in the office to interview with those same two people plus two more team members. Both of those in-person interviews were pretty laid-back. They told me I was one of the top 5 candidates and that I'd know within 10 days. When the 10 days passed, I messaged the manager for an update. They then mentioned they had to interview some internal candidates and I wouldn't hear back for another two weeks. A week and a half later, they let me know the job went to an internal person. The whole thing took 6 weeks, and honestly, it felt like a waste of everyone's time.

Started with an in person interview to talk about being an agent for FBFS. Then got a packet to do Project 150 (find 150 people and rate selling ease) and 10 Market Research Surveys (ask 10 questions about current insurance and interest in discussing options). The hiring manager rescheduled the second interview due to a meeting, but it never happened. Instead, I got a series of questions to answer, which took a few hours. Waited two weeks for a response. Then got instructions for a pre-licensing course with no clear steps. The assistant helped start an Examfx account. Emailed the hiring manager multiple times for guidance over three weeks, but still no response.

I had the standard phone interview, which honestly felt like a waste of time. Most of it could have been covered by just reading my resume. A couple questions were actually relevant and checked my qualifications. Then I had an in-person meeting with the Director of Life Sales. The job posting made it sound like I'd be assisting agents with financial sales and acting as a financial expert for multi-line agents, helping them upsell securities and life insurance. But that's not the real gig. It turns out they need an expert in estate planning and large life insurance cases. My background is strong in securities and investments, but not so much in life insurance. After about 10 minutes, they decided I didn't have enough experience for the role, which makes me wonder why they even scheduled the interview. They seemed to think I didn't have enough life sales experience, and they weren't interested in someone helping agents with investments because the profit margin is lower. They said agents wouldn't trust me without significant life case experience. The logic seemed to be that if agents could handle it themselves, they wouldn't need a life expert. My past roles actually align closely with the job description, just in an internal capacity rather than external. So, be warned: unless you're a high-achiever in life sales and want to keep doing that, this role might not be for you. If I were already excelling at selling life insurance independently, I wouldn't need to work for a company assisting others, would I?

HR called and set up an interview right away, which was a pleasant surprise instead of a pre-screen. It was nice to be invited based on experience rather than having to get through generic HR questions. The interview was scheduled within a week, and they sent a formal email with all the details, directions, and contact info.
