I did a long online application and test. Then I got a phone call to set up an interview for the next day. The interviewer was nice. I was really surprised by how many interview questions there were. The job involves a lot and has a lot of responsibility for only $8.25/hr, especially with my 10 years of experience. I might take it for $9, but I want to warn others that this job seems to be cashier, unloader, and stocker all in one. When I re-read the job description, even though the website says full-time, it's actually just any scheduled hours to 'fill in'. There are NO breaks or lunch for 5-9 hour shifts! The location also had a robbery recently (which they didn't tell me, but I found out myself), and the cashier wasn't coming back (likely fired, based on other reviews). If they call me back, I'm not sure if I'll take it because there's literally no job security. By the time I pay for gas, food, and a uniform, I won't have any money left, especially with so few hours. I can't even sneak food. I need to eat, drink, and use the bathroom. This feels like slave labor. The company really needs to fix their pay and hours to be fair. They should also improve the stores for both shoppers and employees. Remember, all potential and current employees are also customers at some point and deserve respect.

The hiring process usually takes about a week or two if you're what they're looking for. A few years ago when I was hired the background check waiting period was a lot shorter than it is now. It used to take overnight to a few days now it takes a week. HR processing the application takes time as well. You MUST be 18 years or older. You cannot be a felon. You must pass an on-site drug test. You cannot have another job. It's considered conflict of interest. However you can still be in college and they will work around your schedule as best they can. You need a Valid ID. They're willing to be flexible with you if your personal schedule falls under the times they'll need you. The interview is usually short, they'll ask about availability, is there anything in your life that'll require you to take some time off frequently, do you have a reliable means of getting to work, etc. If you are accepted, there are one of two ways to set up how you are paid. You either set up a pay card. If you prefer direct deposit, bring your banking information with you to make the process go along a lot smoother when you're called in to do the drug test. You usually start depending upon how readily they'll need you which could range from the very next day to a few days. You will need to bring your own red polo.

The interview process for this role is pretty standard and is determined by the store manager. In many cases, stores are very eager to hire, so they'll just check if you're capable of working. The interview happened at the store with just the manager. Typically, my assistant managers would interview candidates for this role. However, the district manager interviews anyone who is an assistant manager or holds a higher position.
