Leadership Development Program
I applied online for the Leadership Development Program, and it took about 3 months to hear back from a local Fairmont. My first interview was with someone there, and it was really pleasant. We mostly talked about my background, my interest in Fairmont, and my past work and leadership roles. About a month later, I had a phone interview with a Regional HR Manager, who asked similar questions. That person was also very nice. Soon after, the HR Manager at a Fairmont invited me for another interview with the General Manager, a Department Head, and herself. They were all welcoming too, and the questions were pretty much the same as before. A couple of months after that, I got an offer and accepted it.
- What are your long-term career aspirations over the next five years?
Leadership Development Program
After an online assessment, I was contacted by a recruiter from the corporate office. Although I was initially interested in a Revenue Management Development Program, I was redirected to a Leadership Development Program in the Rooms Division for the Middle East. Following an interview with the Director of Human Resources (Middle East, Africa and India), I was informed that there were no current vacancies. Despite the process concluding over a year ago with no offer, I was told I would be contacted when positions open up. I had assumed the program was an annual offering.
- If competing hotels have high room rates, what strategy would you implement?
Leadership Development Program
I applied for the LDP through my university. Recruiters from Fairmont were at a career fair in the fall. After the career fair, I had two 1-hour in-person interviews with those recruiters. Then, I had a 1-hour phone interview with a corporate HR Manager who screened me further and asked about my program preferences. The HRD at the specific hotel then contacted me to discuss the program and the individual property. I got an offer letter after that call, about three and a half months after the career fair.
- What motivated your interest in the hospitality industry?
