The interview process was straightforward and easy. My supervisor mentioned some of the questions asked, which seemed a bit unusual. It's hard to know who's on the panel or what questions they find realistic. I would have preferred to spend more time learning about the district and what's expected.

The whole hiring thing can take at least a month, maybe more. First up, you gotta get a TB test done at your doctor’s and get the results later. Then, you'll need to dig up your college or university transcripts if you don't have 'em. Also, need two Letters of Reference from the last year. After that, call FCPS HR to set up an onboarding account. Then, bang, an online personality quiz. Once that’s done, watch some training videos about FCPS policy. Fill out tax withholding online and upload stuff like your references and transcripts. You’ll also need to book an in-person orientation with HR. Bring proof of work eligibility and your TB test results. At orientation, they’ll do fingerprinting for the background check. The head honcho of Substitute Teacher HR will explain how to plan your day, check in, teach, and help out during non-class times. The longest part was waiting for the orientation date – a whole month over the holidays. But besides that, it was a pretty straightforward process, and the orientation itself was efficient and well done.

I applied online. Then went to a job fair and interviewed with a principal. That principal gave me an early offer and an actual offer from her school, but I declined. I kept applying online and accepted an early contract. I also emailed my resume to some schools and interviewed at one with a panel of teachers. They asked me to come back for a demo lesson. After that, they checked my references before offering me the job.
