Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Fairfax County Public Schools.
Administrative Assistant
Sent in my resume and application online. About 3 weeks later, I got a call for an in-person panel interview with 2-3 people. When the interview started, they gave us written questions that all applicants for the job got. They weren't super hard, just about your experience. At the end, they asked if I had any questions, which I think is usually better if you can come up with a few to ask. After getting the job offer, I had to get fingerprinted, pass a background check, and get a TB test.
- Can you describe your level of experience?
Administrative Assistant
The interview process was pretty simple and easy. They asked typical questions you can find online. The first step was a video recording where I had to answer some questions. If they liked my answers, they called me in for an in-person interview. I got the job offer the same day.
- Tell me about a time you made a mistake and how you dealt with it.
Administrative Assistant
Got an email about interview date/time. Was supposed to do a prompt beforehand but never got it. Tried to contact them but no reply. Wasn't sure on the day of the interview if it was due to lack of communication within the school.
