I had a first chat with a hiring manager about an open role they were hiring for, and it was a pretty low-key conversation. I thought it went okay. After not hearing back for about a week, I followed up, but got no response. I was surprised by the silence, especially since the hiring manager said I would move on to the next steps, and I kept seeing them post about other jobs on LinkedIn. Maybe they get paid for referrals? Anyway, it might be good for recruiters to send a quick email letting candidates know they're not a fit if that's the case.

The recruiter was super responsive and nice, and the team was quick to schedule the next steps. However, it felt like they didn't really respect my time. They reached out for the role, then during the process, I had to complete 3 case studies (1 take-home and 2 timed). I ended up talking to 6 different people across 9 interviews. In the end, I didn't get an offer. They gave a brief reason for not extending the offer, but when I asked for more details, the hiring manager never responded. It makes me question if the bizops team knows what they're doing or how to manage people, because you don't need 3 case studies and 9 interviews to know someone isn't a good fit. And if someone puts in that much time and effort, answering a follow-up question is the least they deserve.

The interview process included an initial phone screen, followed by a take-home exercise, and then a panel interview with three team members. The team was really friendly and nice, making it a smooth experience, especially for a startup at its growth stage. It was a great process overall, and I left with a positive impression of Faire.
