EYP Interview Questions
& Process

So this interview was a zoom call back in 2021, lasted about an hour. It seemed to be going great initially. There were five interviewers, including a senior architect and a principal. I really laid out my work, achievements, and how I collaborate, especially during the pandemic. I also asked about things like equity, pro-bono projects, and growth within the company, but their answers were vague. They appeared interested, but it didn't seem to pan out later, as I never heard back after a few follow-up emails, which I thought was unprofessional.

I started with a quick phone chat with someone from HR. Then, I went in for an in-person interview with a manager at the DC office. We talked for about 30 minutes, covering all the standard interview questions. She also gave me a tour and we discussed the team and company culture. A few days later, they invited me back to meet more people on the Marketing team. They shared more details about the job and the firm. Everyone I met was prepared, on time, and really seemed to care about the process. It all went smoothly, and I was happy to get an offer.

I had a phone interview and then a face-to-face interview in their office. I met with all 4 members of the HR team, 2 for about 30 minutes and then another 2 came in for about 30 minutes. Their office was brand new and beautiful and they seemed happy about it and talked about how nice it was. I asked someone to give me a tour and they said they could not because they handle govt. projects and have a high degree of confidential information. Besides, we had run over time and I was told that they had to have the same process for each candidate. I thought that was odd, how can they expect someone to take a position at a company sight unseen? Furthermore, so what if an interview runs over time, isn't that a good thing if there is good conversation? I had decided based on the interview it was not the right place for me, but even so they never closed the loop on the interview process.

I interviewed with two senior staff members. We started with introductions and some questions, then I walked them through my portfolio. They didn't ask any tough questions about it. The whole thing lasted about 50 minutes.
