First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ExxonMobil.
Process Engineer
The interview was 2 hours long. The first hour was with a couple of engineers, and the second hour was with two other engineers. They asked the same questions at first, waiting for a response using the STAR method. At the end of each session, there was a technical case where I had to improve a process or fix a problem based on a process flow diagram.
- Describe a situation where you made a mistake and how you handled it.
Manufacturing Process Engineer
It was 2 interviews, one online and one in person. The online one was chill and we just talked about my background. The in-person interview had both behavioural and technical parts. My tip for the behavioural questions is to use the STAR method and give a really concrete example. Specificity is key. The technical questions weren't as tough as I thought. Feel free to take a moment to think before answering.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experiences?
- What do you know about catalysts?
- What are your thoughts on reactors?
Industrial Engineering Intern
The interview started with a 1-minute personal introduction in English. Then, we had a 20-minute group problem-solving activity in Spanish, followed by a brief group presentation of the solution, also in Spanish. Finally, there was a 10-minute individual interview, with the first question being in English.
- Tell me something about yourself.
- Why did you choose this career?
- How do you relate your skills and tools mentioned in your CV?
