The interview felt more like a conversation than a standard interview. They asked typical interview questions, but we also discussed what a normal day would look like and what to expect in the job.

Behavioral

This was a complete waste of time. It wasn't a direct interview for the job, but more of an 'informative interview.' I get that this happens sometimes with staffing agencies, but they were deceptive about it on the phone. After filling out forms for 20 minutes, I talked to someone who was condescending and rude about my qualifications. She didn't even say I wasn't being considered; she tried to get me to register for future jobs. I had to ask to find out I was rejected. They probably discriminated against me because I had to mention an injury from last year when asked about a job gap. The interview wasn't even private; a coworker was in the same room and had to jump in when I pushed back about being underqualified. They tried to fix it and were more professional, but then they said they'd have to train me, which is weird since the agency doesn't do that. Lots of other staffing agencies are more upfront. Express just wants to sign up as many people as possible for irrelevant jobs. They should do their job and actually check qualifications before interviewing.

Behavioral Technical

I applied for an HR role and after filling out paperwork, I was told there was nothing suitable. Months later, I was contacted about factory work, which I declined. I reiterated my interest in HR, and a manager conducted a phone interview. Subsequently, I was invited for an in-person interview for one of two internal positions, meeting with the branch manager and operations consultant. They expressed interest but it took two weeks to hear back. They liked me but realized the role needed specific experience I lacked. I was then referred to another office, but they were unhelpful.
