I recently applied for a job at Explore School, and they got back to me pretty quickly via email. We set up a phone interview for the very next day, and it was a really nice chat. They told me about the school and its mission, and I felt like I got a good sense of the kind of teachers they're looking for. The questions were pretty standard, but they did let me talk about my actual classroom experiences. I could tell the interviewer was really listening because she'd bring up things I'd said earlier, which then led to her next questions. All in all, it felt like a really chill interview.

The interview process began with a phone call where they asked typical questions about teaching methods, how I handle the classroom, school culture, and fostering critical thinking skills. The in-person part was quite extensive, lasting three hours. It involved me giving a demo lesson, followed by a lengthy discussion where we worked together to break down and then rebuild my lesson. They used this exercise to gauge my adaptability and how well I could collaborate with a team to improve lesson plans.

So they had me come in for a demo lesson with the students first. Then, after that, we did a Professional Learning Conference (PLC). We talked for a bit about how the demo lesson went with the Academic Director and Recruiter. Then we talked about the job and what they were looking for. I got a call a few hours later and they hired me.
