First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Explore Horizons.
Assistant Director
It was a really tough interview process. The first step was a phone call with the head of recruitment, which was pretty basic. After that, I got invited for a second interview at an Explore Horizons center. This part had three sections: a sales pitch, a part about working with kids, and some basic interview questions. The third round was at their main office and involved a presentation about myself, another sales pitch, and more interview questions. It all took about 2 hours. They weren't very flexible for people coming from out of town. The feedback on my rejection call was super specific to them and not generally useful.
- Could you try to sell us a gym membership?
- Give us a sales pitch.
- Tell us about how you'd work with children.
Assistant Director
The process began with a phone interview, which was quite basic. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview. It was a standard interview based on my resume. It felt like a casual 'get to know you' chat and was very relaxed. The most challenging part was a role-play exercise that required prior preparation. I had to sell a gym membership. I thought I did okay, but apparently not well enough. Expect some unexpected questions and try not to overthink it. I was sticking to my planned approach, but you can't predict their reactions. I later got an email stating I wasn't a good fit and why. It seems they might be looking for a specific image, and some candidates might not be considered from the start.
- Why did you want this particular job?
Assistant Director
I put in my application online and heard back about a week later for a phone interview. After that, I was invited to Dallas for a second round of interviews at one of the Centers. This interview was pretty chill and laid-back. The two women were super nice and made me feel welcome. It was cool to get to interact with the kids and see how Explore actually works. That second interview was only about an hour long. A few days later, I got asked back for the final interviews in Addison, TX. This one was way longer, over two hours. I met with two interviewers who were friendly but also professional. The office itself is amazing, just like the website says! I had to do a quick role-play, a short presentation, and a written task, on top of the usual interview questions.
- Why would you be a good fit for Explore?
