HR reached out first and we talked about salary, they offered less than I was asking. They called back a week later saying they could get closer to my range and we set up a phone interview. Then I had an in-person interview with the manager and a team lead. It was a really good experience. We walked around the factory floor and solved some problems as we talked. I really liked that because it showed how I think and solve problems with what they gave me. I didn't get an offer, probably because I was overqualified and my salary request was still too high.

Had a phone interview with HR, then a 2-hour Skype interview with the engineering team. Following that was a 3-hour in-person interview. They spent a significant amount of time on "engineering exercises" to gauge thinking and problem-solving skills, though some aspects felt a bit too conceptual. They repeated a lot of questions from the Skype interview. It felt like they process many candidates. After a tour, more interview questions, and two engineering exercises, I was given a disassembled carburetor from an old motorcycle and tasked with reassembling it against the clock.

Applied first, then had a quick phone chat. After that, went in for an in-person interview where I had a weld test and got a tour. They also gave me a math test to see if I could measure accurately to .001" and convert fractions, percents, and decimals. We talked a lot about the company vibe, more like casual chatting than tough questions, which was nice. It seemed like fitting into the company culture was a big deal, so check the website beforehand. Waited a few days after the test and interview. Had to make a couple of follow-up calls myself, but I did get the job offer in the end, so it all worked out.

So I had this first phone interview that lasted about an hour. The recruiter asked me some stuff and then told me about the job and the company. After that, I had the on-site interview. It started with the recruiter giving me a 20-minute math test. The test was pretty easy, like basic stuff they give to everyone. Then I met the head of the department and some other people from the team. It was a good experience overall.
