First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Exelon.
Analyst
I applied online on a Saturday. About two and a half weeks later, on a Tuesday, I got an email with a username and instructions to complete an assessment by the following Monday. No context was given. The assessment had three parts: the first two were five minutes each and asked to identify errors in provided information. The last part was 10 minutes long with 30 math-based questions. A week later, on a Tuesday, I received an email to schedule a virtual interview for that Thursday, with a brief overview of what to expect. The virtual interview began with minimal introductions, just names and job titles, and a quick explanation of how it would proceed. It was very formal. They didn't ask about my background, goals, or anything personal, jumping straight into questions. It was a panel of 4 interviewers who took turns asking a total of 6 questions covering risk behavior, technical skills, and how I handle peer interactions. The questions were in STAR format, though some felt unrealistic. They spoke very little outside of asking questions and only briefly described the role at the very end. They mentioned they were using a grading system and the highest score would get the job, emphasizing interview performance over drive, personality, or passion. I had a chance to ask questions at the end, but their answers were short and vague. Salary was never discussed, and they were all robotic and stoic. The hour-long interview left me feeling like they didn't fully grasp my abilities or what I could contribute, almost as if the decision was already made and they were just going through the motions.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with work-related stress or problems that challenged your ability to cope. How did you handle it?
- Can you provide an instance where you had to make a decision quickly?
- Imagine you're in a meeting with your manager, and a colleague proposes a solution you disagree with, but your manager seems to favor it. What would be your course of action?

I applied through LinkedIn and heard back from HR about 2 months later. Then, I had an interview with a panel of 4 managers. Exelon uses the STAR method for all their interviews.
- Can you share a time you made a significant decision?
- Describe a challenging issue you successfully resolved.
- What experience do you have with automation projects?
Senior Analyst
The interview process was pretty straightforward, but it felt like it lacked structure. I interviewed with team members and other group members in the company. It felt like there was no cohesion in the questions between the interviewers, and the questions seemed quite random.
- How would you approach solving a problem using VBA?
