The interview process is pretty simple. First, there's a quick call to see if you're a good fit and if you're interested. Then, a technical interview with two developers where they'll ask some questions about high-level development practices and your experience, plus a short coding challenge. Finally, there's an interview with a hiring manager to check for cultural fit. Everyone was nice to talk to, and it didn't feel stressful.

A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn based on my resume. We had a 30-min call where she gave me the lowdown on the company and asked about my background, plus some data science theory (like bias-variance trade-off). Then, I went in for two back-to-back onsite interviews with Excella folks. First up was the director of engineering, who asked some big-picture questions and explained the company's workflow. She was super easy to chat with. After that, I had the technical interview with a data scientist. He wanted to know about my past projects and quizzed me on algorithm distinctions, complexity, and problem-solving strategies. He seemed a bit green, which was a little nerve-wracking, but the questions were pretty standard.

I applied online through the Excella website. A recruiter reached out the day after I applied to set up a phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 10-15 minutes. It started with the recruiter sharing info about the company, then they asked me tactical questions about establishing client relationships and eliciting requirements. I tried asking some questions, but the recruiter felt the hiring manager would be the best person to answer them. I'm unsure if the recruiter genuinely didn't know or if they were trying to wrap up the call. A few days later, I was informed I wouldn't proceed.
