Excelacom Business Analyst Interview Questions
& Process

I met someone from Excelacom at a career fair at my university and they set up an in-person interview for the next day on campus. A couple days later, I was invited to come to their office for an interview open house the month after. They had a happy hour the night before with people they recently hired. The open house included a manager's presentation about Excelacom and then two interviews with company executives. I was told I'd hear back within a week, but it took a month.

So, first there was this presentation by the main recruiter and a lead consultant to my club. I chatted with them a bit, then I applied on my school's job site. Later, the recruiter emailed me for an office visit. The interview with the CFO was tough, lots of technical questions about the telecommunications industry and supply chain. Then I had another technical interview with the consultant I met earlier. He asked why I wanted to be a consultant and then straight into diagramming. He initially asked for an ERD, but I said we're learning that next week, so he switched to designing an information system for a restaurant, wanting me to plan and draw out how it would work. He seemed to like my answers and conclusion. About three weeks after that, the recruiter called to let me know I didn't get the job.

The event was basically an open house interview session. It lasted about 8 hours and there were like 15-20 people there from all over. When we got there, we signed in, then they gave a presentation about the company. They talked about a lot of stuff about the company and what they were looking for in us. You gotta be ready though, to say what you did and why you're a good fit at any time. One of the presenters even called out people during his talk to ask about stuff he saw on their resumes. After the presentations, we went to a waiting area. They seemed to call groups of 3 people at a time for interviews. It was kind of like a round robin, with 6-8 managers in a big conference room. Each interview was one-on-one with a manager at a table. Each person got 1-3 interviews, not sure if it depended on how much they liked you. This whole thing took about 2 hours, then we had lunch. After lunch, they thanked us for coming. Then HR had a casual reception with us (no managers), where we could ask questions. The event finished around 4pm.
