Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Exadel.
Frontend Developer
The interview had a great vibe, super friendly and professional. The technical questions felt spot on and really let me show what I know and also think about what I could improve. The interviewer was great, made the whole thing easy and interesting.
- How do you approach state management in React applications?
- Can you describe your methods for managing state in React, specifically mentioning Context API or Redux Toolkit?
- What's your strategy for handling state in React projects, and how does that vary with project complexity?
UI Developer
This was a rush job, the recruiter was trying to schedule the first meeting and screening call as soon as possible. After the screening, I waited a few days to hear back, and when I did, the recruiter wanted to move on to the technical interview. She asked if I could do it the same day, but I was sick. I said no, but she pushed, saying it would be fast because they needed someone quickly. I declined again, and we eventually agreed to do it the next morning. I did the technical interview sick and passed. The recruiter said I did well and the last step was talking to the client. I was happy I passed but looking back, I shouldn't have pushed myself. The job posting was gone from the website and LinkedIn, so I figured they hired someone. I messaged the recruiter for an update after two days, no reply. I messaged again on the fourth day. Finally got an update: the position is on hold.
- Tell me about your experience with CSS.
- How do you approach web performance optimization?
- Can you discuss your experience with UI library development?
Senior Frontend Developer
I went through 2 technical rounds initially, with more possibly to follow based on how these went. The first round involved puzzle solving, which was like leetcode easy-to-mid difficulty and actually pretty fun. The second round was more like a formal exam, sort of like a "top 20 React questions" blog post. I think the answers were expected to align very closely with what was on that list, and I might have even found the exact blog post later, but who knows. Anyway, the connection was pretty loose and the vibe during the call wasn't great. I really think general technical interviews should be more of a conversation, not a rapid-fire test, unless it's a live coding or system design round.
- Were there any questions related to React documentation?
