Behavioral Technical Presentation

The whole thing from applying to getting the offer took about a month. First, I had a Microsoft Teams chat with HR where we talked about behavioural stuff like how I handle pressure, manage projects, and why I want to work for a contract research place. Then, I went on-site to Oxford for a technical interview with two people from the company. They asked me to give a short, unprepared 5-minute presentation on my PhD work, followed by a chemistry problem about making a compound with about 8 steps. This part focused on reaction mechanisms, byproducts, how to purify stuff, problems with making it big, and how to check if it's the right thing. After that, we did a tour of the facilities. Everyone was really nice and friendly. The whole thing lasted about an hour and a half.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Had a 1:1 zoom call with the hiring manager first, just chatting about my experience. Then the second stage involved preparing a 10-minute presentation with questions, followed by a 55-minute scientific and technical questions session, and finally a 1-hour interview with HR focusing on situational questions. I found out the outcome a week later.

The first contact was great and the interview was scheduled quickly. I heard back within a week that I was going to be offered the position. Salary negotiations were a bit difficult and the initial offer was lower than I hoped for, but we managed to reach a satisfactory agreement that was contingent on my probation period. The interview process involved a good chat with HR, followed by a meeting and discussion with the scientific team.
