Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Evonik.
Intern
I had two interviews for different teams, one for life science (online) and one for chemical analytics (offline). Both asked about soft skills, but the analytics team wanted to know more technical details like my experience with analytical machines such as NMR and IR.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you go over the projects you did as a research assistant?

Intern
You have to go through 2 rounds of interviews to get selected. The first interview will just ask you basic questions. The second interview focuses more on the job details and to see if your a good fit or not.
- How can Evonik help you?
Intern
A HR consultant working with the company contacted me and asked some specific things about my resume, then scheduled a face-to-face group activity. The activity was fun, involving a personal introduction from us candidates, and then we had to pitch a product to the managers, who would decide whether to 'buy' it. I got the results later that day. The final stage was also a face-to-face interview, scheduled a week later. The day before, I got an email about what to prepare: a personal presentation and a sales presentation for one of the company's products, with one of them needing to be in English. The interview was with the company's HR person and a manager from the area; it was pretty relaxed, with questions to get to know me better. I had the interview on Friday, and the approval feedback came on Monday.
