First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Evoke Technologies.
Senior Node.js Developer
I've just finished the first round, which was online and I passed. Now I'm waiting to hear back about the next steps, specifically if Round 2 will be in-person or remote. They mentioned the role is for someone who can join immediately.
- Can you explain the differences between var, let, and const, and detail how scope impacts closures?
- Define pure functions and describe how they contribute to better maintainability in React applications.
- How has React Fiber improved the rendering performance of React?
Software Quality Assurance Engineer
HR called me on Monday and the interview was set for the very next day, Tuesday. It was a quick process with 4 rounds, all completed in a single day. Salary negotiation with HR also happened then. They wanted me to start in 2 days, but I said I'd join on the 3rd day. They asked for a day to release the offer letter, but after 48 hours, they called to say they'd use an internal resource due to budget issues. So why did they even interview me? HR admitted it was his mistake since he didn't know the position's status when scheduling the interview. Don't trust anything until the offer is actually out.
- Tell me about Selenium.
- Explain Java script.
- What are some test cases design techniques?
Gen AI Engineer
The first round was easy. The managerial round felt like a joke because the interviewer, who mentioned she was driving, said Gen AI is easy to learn and she wanted to know my end-to-end business understanding without technicalities. She also stated they don't use open source. I mentioned using Llama 3 from Bedrock, clarifying Bedrock isn't open source and that Guardrails are good for security, but she insisted on no technicalities. She also said RAG is outdated and they have better projects. Honestly, with this kind of ego and how she ignored my answers, this interview felt like a monarchy where you just have to please the manager, which is stupid.
- Can you describe the tools you utilized in your project?
Director of Engineering
The actual role they are hiring for seems to encompass a wide range of responsibilities like delivery, engineering, hiring, and presales. When I asked what they expect from a new hire, they seemed a bit confused and described all these multiple roles they expect from a single hire, which I felt could be a disaster. Since it's a services organization, it might be risky to prove you're doing a great job and show impact to the management teams.
- Can you explain the well-architected principles in Cloud?
- Describe how you would build your deployment to be cloud agnostic.
