First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Evidence Action.
Program Manager
The interview included a very data-heavy but completely artificial case study that felt impossible to complete in the time suggested. They didn't offer any compensation for several days of work and then provided no feedback after it was submitted.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Director
We started with an intro call with the hiring lead to talk about the role, then an HR screener. After that, there was a panel interview focusing on people management, my experience, and interests. This was followed by a skills test. The next step was another panel interview, this time about fundraising and operations management. Finally, I had a closing interview with the hiring lead.
- What motivates your interest in this position?
- Could you elaborate on your experience with people management and your specific interests pertaining to this role?
- Describe your background in fundraising and operations management.
Associate Director
First, an HR call to go over work eligibility, your salary expectations, and your interest in the company. They'll make sure you're a good fit. Then, a technical assessment, which is offline and really detailed, testing your knowledge and decision-making. After that, you'll have a peer interview with other directors to talk about the day-to-day reality of the job and confirm your personality and skills align with the role. Finally, a hiring manager and leadership panel interview, which is a mix of technical and behavioral questions.
- Be ready for behavioral questions about the specific role you're applying for.
- Use the STAR method to answer questions.
- Take your time answering each question; there's no time limit.
Chief Development Officer
The recruitment and interview process at Evidence Action was top-notch. They were upfront about the process and timeline. When things shifted, they communicated changes clearly and respectfully, managing expectations well. The HR team's communications were consistently timely, respectful, and thorough. I found the interview process challenging because they're very thorough and focused on finding the right fit, which involved several interviews. However, this allowed me to get a good understanding of the organization and its culture. Everyone I spoke with was engaging, dedicated, and generous with their time.
- Can you outline a strategy for enhancing staff skills in fundraising and development throughout the organization?
