First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at EvergreenHealth.
Registered Nurse
I was first reached out to by the nurse recruiter after I applied and they helped me schedule the interview. I got to meet in person and interview with several units at once who worked together. After meeting with different managers, the nurse recruiter followed up with the units that wanted to hire me. I told the recruiter which unit I wanted to join and they helped me connect with HR and other people I needed!
- What are your five-year career aspirations?
Customer Support Specialist
I had three interviews that seemed really good. The first was a recruiter screen. The second was with the department leadership. The third was a panel interview. I got a verbal offer, and then they asked for 5 references. Whatever they found out caused them to rescind the offer with no explanation. It seems weird to put this part so late in the process, as it can really hurt your chances. Anyway, I'm really disappointed to have spent a month on this only to be rejected for reasons I don't know.
- How do you manage difficult calls?
Clinical Informatics Specialist
The hiring manager didn't have a formal plan, so I was put in a room with 9 team members, which felt really intimidating. They asked me questions in a way that made me feel unwelcome and underqualified, even though I have a doctorate and most of them had less. It was supposed to be an hour, but it was just a free-for-all with questions. The team kept saying they were a 'family' looking for a 'good fit,' which felt a bit hostile given the setup. Afterward, the hiring manager and I talked for about 30 minutes. They then told me I'd have another interview the next week with people from outside the clinical informatics department, which hadn't been mentioned before. The reason wasn't clear since those departments aren't involved in hiring. Given they hire across the whole clinical spectrum, I think it was just internal politics. I didn't hear back for two weeks, so I emailed to check in, but got no response. It was all very disorganized and unprofessional, and I got the impression they don't know what they want. There might also be some weird internal politics going on.
- Why should we consider you, an outside candidate, when we usually hire internally at Evergreen?
Physician
There were some hiccups and delays during the recruitment process. This might be because the physician recruitment was in the middle of a change. It was a bit confusing because I applied for a job that I found out later was no longer available. I did follow up though. Hopefully, the process will be smoother with the new recruiter. For me, it wasn't very organized, and I ended up doing more of the communication between departments than the employees themselves. It was also not ideal to show up for an interview and find out the medical director for the clinic had taken the day off.
- Do you have any ideas on how to achieve a lot with limited resources?
