First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Evergent.
Software Engineer
The interview started with Java basics, tailored to my preferred language. I was asked about constructors, the static keyword, OOPS concepts, and the 'super' and 'this' keywords. I struggled with questions on interfaces because I wasn't very familiar with the topic. Unfortunately, due to a few unanswered questions, I wasn't selected to move on to the HR round.
- Could you explain abstraction, and is it possible to achieve 100% abstraction? Also, what are interfaces in Java?
- Tell me more about Abstraction and interfaces, and also about static methods and keywords.
Software Engineer Trainee
So there were 3 rounds in total. The first round was a written test covering aptitude, core Java, advanced Java, and Spring. I took this in February. Then, they called me for the second round in May, which was a technical round. This technical round involved both theory questions and a coding exercise. The interviewer for this round was friendly and asked about oops, multithreading, collections, exception handling, and then gave some programs like swapping numbers, finding the largest number, and even/odd program. The last round was a mix of HR, managerial, and technical aspects. There were two interviewers, a man and a woman who joined via video conference. They asked a lot of personal questions like where I live, why I chose to come by metro, about my parents' work location, how many people attended the interview, if I knew anyone in the company, etc. Then, the male interviewer gave me a programming problem, and the female interviewer asked me to talk about the organization. She started laughing when I spoke. I had read reviews mentioning personal questions and laughter during interviews, but after the second round, I thought it wasn't true. However, the last round proved those reviews right, and it changed my mind about joining the company. It seems like many people in the company know each other beforehand, possibly as friends or relatives. Some interviewers are good and ask relevant domain questions, while others aren't. It really depends on luck whether you get a good interviewer or not.
- Tell me about oops.
- What do you know about multithreading?
- Explain collections.

The interview process had a technical round first, which was pretty standard. Then there was a longer HR and Manager round that went on for over an hour. They get into personal stuff, like asking about your college choice, why you picked this company, and your general life happiness. They also laid out expectations, mentioning potential weekend work and the need to be available when clients require it. I wasn't extended an offer, which I'm fine with.
- Can you tell me about your Java knowledge?
- What are your thoughts on Java?
