Recruiter
It was a long process that felt like a waste of my time and money. Started with a phone call with a recruiter, then an in-person meeting with the manager and another employee. They flew me to LA for an interview with the VP, which I felt was unnecessary. Then I had another in-person interview with both the manager and VP. I felt like they kept asking the same questions over and over. I expected to shadow someone or learn about the company culture when I flew to LA, but it was a 13-hour day for a 1-hour interview where the VP didn't even seem prepared. I went to the next interview hoping the vibe would change, but it only got worse.
- How comfortable are you with delivering negative feedback?
Recruiter
I was contacted by a recruiter based on my resume. It took a very long time to get someone on the phone to schedule. Some staff were quite rude. It was difficult to connect with the right person about roles still advertised on their site after months. I'm not sure I ever spoke to the correct person. Maybe they just keep resumes for later. It would be good if they sent at least an automated email if it's not a fit, especially since they reached out first.
- Regarding their interest call, why did I not follow up?
- What was my reason for applying to this company?
- How extensive is my network for bringing in new clients and candidates?
Internal Recruiter
Got referred by a current employee. First up was a chat with an internal recruiter. Then, I interviewed with the HR Manager for the location. After that, I had a session with two Account Managers. Next, I spoke with the National Operations Director. I also had an informational chat with another recruiter I would have worked with. It was between me and someone else, and they had past experience in marketing and recruiting. I didn't have recruiting experience, and even though they said it wasn't required, it ended up being the deciding factor.
- Can you share a career goal you've achieved?
