First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Everest College.
Admissions Representative
I applied for the job at the Greenspoint TX campus and heard back in a week. First, I interviewed with an admissions manager. The next day, I had a phone interview with another admissions manager. The following week, I interviewed with the campus Dean and the regional VP. It seems like there will be at least three interviews. This job is a lot of phone work (200+ calls/day), so if you don't have prior phone experience, highlight your ability to communicate well, be persuasive, and get students to come in for in-person interviews over the phone. Be personable and energetic – they want to see how you'll interact with prospective students. Always give specific examples when answering questions. Make sure to prepare a list of different questions for each interview.
- Describe a situation where you had a disagreement with your supervisor.
- Describe a situation where you had a disagreement with a colleague.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a challenging customer.
Financial Aid Planner
My first interview was with the Director of Finance at the campus, and I was invited for an in-person meeting right away, skipping a phone interview. I already knew someone at the campus, which might have played a role. The second interview, also on the same day, was with the Campus President. Both interviews were quite straightforward, with no challenging questions. The interview experience can really differ based on your background and experience; I've heard the process for Admissions is much more rigorous.
- What are your strategies for handling challenging student interactions?
Admissions Representative
The first step was a pretty basic phone interview that lasted about 10 minutes. I was asked general questions like why I thought I would be a good fit, what my availability was, etc. I was then asked to come on for a group interview, which took about one hour and consisted of a panel of four managers asking four candidates to answer questions regarding our work history as well as how we might handle situations in the admin position. About a week later I was called by the hiring manager and asked to come in for a one-on-one interview, where she asked a few more questions regarding how I might handle situations in the admin job. She then took me around the school and introduced me to the teachers, other admin reps, financial aid reps as "who you'll be working with" and "who will help train you". I thought I had this job in the bag after that interview, but I never got a call back.
- Tell me about your experience.
- What is your availability?
- How would you handle situations that arise in the admissions representative role?
Coordinator
My hiring process was a little different. It was emails, three interviews, and then the offer. The first email set up the first interview. I did a tour of the campus and was told I'd hear back later that week. After that, I was supposed to do a job shadow, but the person wasn't there, so I ended up sitting in on an admissions rep. The next interview was supposed to be over the phone. I didn't hear anything for two months. Then I got another email asking if I could come in for another interview. This one was a presentation to the VP. When that was done, I got a text asking if I could meet with the campus president the next day. I met with the president and we spoke a bit. She didn't know the next step, so I had to wait for another email. I got that email asking if they could conduct a background check. After the background check, I waited another week and a half. Then I got an email asking if I could meet with one more person.
- What makes you feel capable of performing this role?
