Product Manager
The recruiter was unprofessional and a bully. I asked about topics for the 45-min HR screening and was told "as you can see from my signature, I am a recruiter so it will be an HR interview." However, I was asked behavioral questions, not typical for an HR screening. After being pressured to disclose my age, the recruiter commented I was too young for my experience, undermining my work. I was asked if I am married or have/thinking about children, which contradicts EVBox's "equal opportunity employer" statement. The recruiter then gave feedback that I couldn't handle my emotions well when asked personal questions. He shared nothing about the role or team and didn't ask if I had questions. I still know nothing more than the job posting. The interview felt like a quiz on my resume, with the recruiter trying to find weak points. I believe the interview process indicates company values. If a recruiter leaves me wondering why I was attacked in a supposed calm and respectful conversation, I don't want to work there. This is the first time I've experienced this in 5 years in NL. I withdrew my application.
- What's your current salary and why are you looking to leave your company?
- Can you share an instance where you assisted someone, even though it wasn't part of your official duties?
- Tell me about a time where you helped someone else and it was not part of your job description.
Product Manager
I applied through LinkedIn. The whole process was quite fast, moving from application to the final stage within a week. The steps involved an HR screening, then an interview with the hiring manager, followed by a meeting with a counterpart, and finally with the CXO. The HR team provided frequent updates throughout.
- Can you tell me about a challenging situation you encountered in a past job and how you handled it?
Product Manager
I was referred by an employee. The process was pretty clear and moved quickly. First, an HR call with typical questions. Then, I interviewed with the hiring manager. During this, I realized I wasn't really a good fit. The job description didn't match what the hiring manager said the role actually entailed. It seems it was a more senior role with a lot more responsibilities and required industry experience not mentioned before. Also, the pay was surprisingly low for such a senior position. I got a follow-up call from HR for feedback on why I was rejected. It made sense given the actual requirements.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to manage different stakeholders.
