The interview process was fast and they wrapped up whole process within a week. But when there was compensation discussion they backed out although i had already set my expectations before processing my candidature. I have given them valid reason for my expectations as I would be loosing out my annual bonus and hike but they never reverted back me on this . When I tried to contact them they said it is pending for approval. They never contacted me after that, it’s been more than 2 months. The interview processed from Gurgaon location.

The interview process was time consuming, robust and very technical. It included all possible previous technical experiences in the industry. There were three rounds. Round I was a Technical Telephone interview with common questions on background, education, introduction etc., mostly technical. The interviewers were excellent subject matter experts and went deep with questions. The session lasted 80 minutes. Round II was a Technical interview with Higher Management over the telephone. It started with an introduction and a question about the difficulty of the previous round. All other questions were very technical and robust. The session lasted nearly 100 minutes. The Manager asked about my present CTC, but no further discussion on salary. Round 3 was with the Group Leader (Top Management) via Skype. It was a casual discussion about relocating, workload, work culture, job location, learning opportunities, and how I found out about the company. This went on for 120 minutes. There was no specific HR round. After the three rounds, I submitted my documents via email and received the offer letter. There were no negotiations, but I was satisfied with the salary increase. It was the longest interview I've had, but I'm happy with the technicality and the outcome.

So there were two rounds. The first one had two interviewers who asked me about valuations like DCF and relative multiples, my previous role, market trends, and everything about US Shale gas and falling oil prices. I knew that stuff well, so it was super easy and lasted about an hour. Then, HR called and said the first round feedback was great and the VP would interview me for the second round. He asked me about ONGC and why I wanted to move. About a week later, I got a call confirming the offer with a 25% hike. I kind of regret not asking for more, but it was a good experience for anyone looking for an Equity Research job.
