Receptionist
Sometimes you apply online and then do a follow-up call. Occasionally, they have a pop-up station at events to look for potential new staff. The company trains you and educates you on their waxing. It's a great company, a couple of cons but nothing is perfect, very fun.

Receptionist
I went in for the interview, and I had all the necessary paperwork, including the availability form they wanted me to fill out. The interview itself went fine, they were nice and seemed to like me. I had been going there for my eyebrows for years, so I felt like I was going to get the job, and I did. They called me on a Friday night, expecting me to come in the next morning at 8am for an orientation, wearing specific clothes that included a white button down, which I did not have. I wasn't actually even going to be in town that next morning, so I had a decision to make. I went to the website they told me to register on for scheduling purposes, and they had already made my schedule for the next week. This schedule included multiple days that were included on my availability form as NOT available, due to college classes I was taking at the time. It was like they didn't even look at it. This is not a career, most of their receptionists are students with busy class schedules that they seemed very willing to work around. Due to the last minute nature of the orientation that I could not even make it to, and their inability to take my schedule into consideration, I decided not to take the job. Their turnaround is so high that they are still constantly looking to hire.

Receptionist
I saw an ad on Craigslist for a receptionist role that involved sales. I got a call back from the manager within a few hours. We chatted for about 10 minutes, and she asked about my background and if I was okay with sales. I told her that as a hairdresser, I sell hair products all the time and that I'm fine with selling wax creams that customers might need post-wax. She seemed happy with that and set up an interview for the next day. The next day, I waited about 10 minutes before a guy, who looked like a general manager, came to get me. We went outside to some tables where the manager I spoke to earlier was already there. For the next 10 minutes, they were really rude, making me feel stupid. They totally misrepresented the job duties and then bashed me for not knowing. Turns out, it wasn't a receptionist job at all; it was purely sales. The job was to sell these packaged deals for waxes, like buying 10 waxes for $190 instead of $20 each. They stressed that the main goal is to get everyone to buy a package deal. The manager said to ask customers multiple times if they want to buy it, and if they say no, ask again and again. When I asked how many times is too many, he didn't really have an answer. He said they should buy it even if they don't want it, because getting them to buy the deal is more important than if they're happy. He also mentioned that if they buy the package, they'll definitely come back. It wasn't about prioritizing the customer; it was all about making sales. I would never work there. They were so disrespectful and made me feel like an idiot. I just moved here from another country, and this was one of my first interviews. I guess I wasn't ready for that Orange County attitude. I just wish professional people would act professionally.
- When asked why I think I would be great for this position, I answered it totally wrong.
