it was a pretty standard first interview, but the questions they asked were really broad and it caught me off guard. i was asked how to balance client needs with research needs in a political risk assessment without knowing what client or any specifics. it didn't seem like they knew what they wanted.

There was a writing test. The people interviewing were nice and friendly. They asked about my expertise and experience in the past, especially in policy. You should make sure you understand the mission of the practice and the job description.
- Why did you apply for EG and could you walk me through your background?
- What is your expertise and experience in policy?
- Do you understand the mission of the practice and job description?

The interview process started with two initial chats with HR and a junior team member, which were pretty standard. Then, the hiring manager was a bit late for our 30-minute chat and just jumped straight into asking questions without even introducing themselves. They seemed really suspicious of my background and experience, and didn't seem very interested from the get-go. Honestly, it made me wonder why they even bothered interviewing me if that was their attitude.
- Can you answer some basic questions about regional expertise?
- Tell me about the weaknesses on your CV.
