First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Esurance.
Senior Software Engineer
First, I had a quick chat with the recruiter. Then, it was an in-person interview where I met about 5 people. The first part was with a software developer who asked about my current project, my development process, and environment. The second round had 2 software developers who asked some standard programming questions on OOPS, C#, etc., but no algorithms. The final round was with the Manager and Technical Architect. They mainly talked about the technologies I've used before. The Manager also threw in one simple puzzle.
- Questions on OOPS and C#.
- Questions on Design Patterns.
- Questions on SQL Queries.
Front End Software Engineer
The interview process started with a brief initial phone screen. This was followed by a technical phone screen which was pretty standard. It included a discussion about current technologies and some niche JavaScript programming concepts, plus a riddle.
- Given 9 identical coins where one is heavier, how can you find the heavier coin with the fewest weighings on a classic scale?
- Could you explain the meaning of isomorphism in the context of computer programming?
Applications Developer
The interview process was smooth and the interviewer was good. The environment was comfortable. There were two Skype interviews, each lasting one hour. They asked good technical questions and provided a good background on the company and job responsibilities.
- Could you describe a particularly challenging work situation you've encountered?
