Intern
The interview was in two phases: the first, introductory, with an HR intern. The second, with the aforementioned HR and the team I would have worked with. At the end of the interviews, I was made an offer, which I declined. The HR in that case was, in my opinion, unprofessional, claiming I should have communicated from the start that I had contacts with other companies (I had mentioned it during the interview) so as not to waste their time. Apart from this unpleasant response, the experience wasn't negative.
- Do you have knowledge of Excel?
- Do you have knowledge of English?
Marketing Analyst
First, a call with HR for general questions and to check interest/motivation for the role. Then, a video-interview with HR in a conversational mode to get to know my application, skills, knowledge of the company better, etc. and explanation of both the position and important details (salary, contract, offices, etc.). There was an Excel test to check knowledge (I didn't do it because I was simultaneously in other processes and ended up accepting another offer, but they told me they would mainly evaluate basic/intermediate knowledge and pivot tables, etc.). They mentioned there would be a final in-person conversation with the manager.
- What do you know about the company?
- Why are you interested in this position?
- Tell me about your studies and previous professional experience.
Data Scientist
This was a chaotic hiring process. I was contacted by an Israeli recruiter for a role in a new AI research center in Israel. My first interview was with two Italian data scientists, and then I waited three weeks for an update. The recruiter said the feedback was positive but she didn't know the next steps, which was a red flag for disorganization. After five weeks, I had an interview with a data science manager from India. This interview was simple, and the manager had no idea about the next steps, just that he submitted feedback and HR would handle it. However, HR said the manager was supposed to update me. I didn't want to get caught in the middle, so I waited. A month and a half later, with no word, I had already accepted an offer from another company. The contrast in professionalism and organization was stark. This experience makes me question what working there would be like given their hiring process and internal communication issues. I'd recommend looking elsewhere; don't waste your time here.
- Can you discuss the tradeoffs between Precision and Recall when it comes to medical imaging classification?
Polymer Scientist
HR reached out to schedule an interview but then sent a rejection email over the weekend. The next Monday, the HR person called, but it seemed like she hadn't read my CV. She first asked if I'd need sponsorship later on, then asked what my current position was and what a postdoc does. After I explained, she said they wanted someone with industrial experience, which I have and is on my CV. It felt like she was trying to find a reason to reject me. Overall, it was disappointing and unprofessional.
- Do you require future visa sponsorship?
- Could you explain what a postdoc is?
