Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Esri.

Had a 1-hour video call with HR. Didn't make it through, but the hiring manager was supposed to be next. Honestly, HR shouldn't be doing hour-long interviews before the hiring manager. HR should be limited to 30 mins to save time.
- Can you describe your experience using ArcGIS software?

I got referred by someone who works at Esri. The senior recruiter contacted me and we set up a call. We chatted for about an hour about the role, my background, and why I was interested. After that, I got my first interview. The next step was an interview with the director of the defense services division. We spoke for about 40 minutes, mixing some getting-to-know-you chat with more standard interview questions. I felt pretty good about it. A week later, the recruiter emailed saying they wanted to move forward with a final interview. This last one was a full-day event. I talked to 10 different people from various parts of the company about a wide range of things. Even though the all-day thing sounded intense, the day actually went by fast and was pretty enjoyable just chatting with everyone. I was really impressed with the company culture.
- What makes you want to join Esri?
- Can you tell me about some projects you've worked on, including what went well and what could have been better?
- Are you willing to travel for work, and if so, what percentage of the time?
Technical Consultant
Had an HR interview. They asked really general questions. I spoke with a rep about my past experience, and they asked me why I'm leaving my job, what I'm looking for in a new career, and how I fit the job.
- Can you discuss your previous experience?
- What prompted your decision to leave your current role?
- Describe your career aspirations.
