First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Esper.
Software Engineer
The interview process involved 4 rounds. The first was a tech round that focused more on discussion than coding, covering ANR and architecture topics. The second round was also discussion-based, delving deeper into architecture and your past experiences. Following that was the hiring manager round, aimed at assessing your fit with the team. The final round was with HR.
- Can you tell me about ANRs you've encountered in the codebase?
- How would you approach designing an application to perform well under low network conditions?
Software Development Engineer
First, there was an HR screening. Then, we had Technical Round 1 on Intervue, focusing on DSA. After that, Technical Round 2 covered DSA and system design. Finally, there was a Managerial Round with both technical and non-technical questions.
- Questions based on Leetcode style problems.
- Questions on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA).
- Questions on system design principles.
Software Engineer
The interview process started with a junior engineer who asked very basic and easy questions. He mentioned he was the only one on the team. The second round was with an architect who seemed uninterested and was yawning throughout the interview. This attitude reflects poorly on company culture and employees.
- Questions about SQL were asked.
- Basic questions regarding Data Engineering were posed.
- Questions on High-Level Design (HLD) were included.
