First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Erste Group.
Software Engineer Intern
The people were very friendly, and the atmosphere was also very pleasant. Basically, there was an introductory round, followed by a short Q&A session. Some simple technical questions were asked, and they also inquired about personal experiences. In the end, they had already given the position to someone else, but I received an offer for a different role.
- How do you familiarize yourself with a framework?
- Have you ever worked with asynchronous communication?
- What is Dependency Injection?
Senior Software Engineer
It's a 3-round process. First round is split into two 1-hour sessions: one with HR and your future manager, and another with a staff engineer. The second round is a 5-hour live coding session where you need to implement a solution based on evolving requirements. Each hour, a new engineer (future colleague) joins you, and your objective is to refine the solution for code quality and system design. The number of iterations completed isn't the main focus. The third round is a 1-hour panel discussion with your future colleagues.
- Could you assess if the provided code snippet demonstrates good design in terms of clean code?
Software Engineer
The interview process was structured well. It kicked off with an introductory meeting involving the recruiter, a product owner, and two software engineers. After that, the technical interview took place. However, I was disappointed because the recruiter promised a call the next day to discuss the outcome, but I never received any follow-up.
- Besides a small coding exercise, were there high-level technical questions (e.g. about Java) and some behavioral questions?
