Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Erie Home.
Sales
The process was smooth, though it included some harsh behavioral questions. The technical part was easy. I liked talking to the people, but the compensation isn't great.
- Can you sell this house to me?
Sales Representative
The interview process had two rounds. The first round was a basic qualification check. The second round focused on work experience and included challenging questions. Overall, it was a solid process, and I had no complaints about the interviewer or the process itself. The job is commission only with odd work hours.
- Why do you believe you'd succeed in a commission-only role?
Sales Representative
The whole interview was about me being a woman. They mentioned they don't have women there and women don't really apply. Two guys interviewed me and they brought up that I might get uncomfortable in the 'men's locker room' vibe and that I might change things, which they didn't want. They even asked if I'd move, since other locations do have women. They made a comment about my looks early on, not in a mean way but it was weird because they were also discriminating against me for being a woman. I'm not a feminist, but this was sexist and just plain weird. I have experience in this industry, but that was ignored. They seemed hesitant to offer a second interview, but I cancelled it anyway because I didn't want them to hire me just to avoid a lawsuit, and I was already put off by the whole thing.
- Everything was focused on trying to discourage me from working there because I'm a woman.
