The first chat was with a recruiter, and they asked for info that could be easily used for identity theft. They wanted this info BEFORE my resume even went to the hiring people. When I said no to giving that info, the recruiting staff just stopped talking to me.

Behavioral Case

I really liked the interview process with Equity, even though I didn't get the Business Development Manager job. The Managing Director, Corey Smith, was upfront about the company's and the Minneapolis branch's direction, and the role's requirements were clear. I appreciated their approach. It started with a phone call to get to know me, my career goals, and to let me learn about the job and company. Then, I went to a casual happy hour with the director and a senior sales team member, Zach Ross. I really appreciated this because I got to hear from the office head and someone I'd be working with daily. Near the end of the happy hour, we realized that this specific role might not be the perfect fit for me right now given my career stage, but it's something I'm interested in, and we all felt I could be ready for it probably next year. Overall, I had a great time interviewing. The passion, energy, and excitement from Corey and Zach were contagious, and I'd love to work for Equity someday. It was one of the best interview experiences I've had.

My friend got me into the company. The first interview was with a manager, lasted about 2 hours and was pretty casual, mostly just getting to know each other rather than a Q&A. A few days later, I met the team and saw them work. We talked about how I hadn't done a high-volume phone role before and we both wanted to make sure I knew what the process and the grind could be like. About a week after the first meeting, I got an offer and started.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • How would I adapt to being on the phone for extended periods, and did I feel I could manage that, given my previous lack of experience in such a role?

I spoke with sales recruiters and we had a quick chat about the job and my responsibilities. It was a general discussion covering the typical daily tasks and the main people I'd collaborate with. They explained their specific areas of focus and the types of projects they handle. They also covered information about how the spread works and what your expected performance level should be.
