Behavioral Case Presentation

The whole process took about a month. It started with an initial HR call that felt like a formality, where the HR person seemed unprepared and couldn't answer job-specific questions. Then, a week later, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager, focusing heavily on behavioral questions about my past experiences. They seemed concerned about the few areas where I didn't perfectly match the job requirements. A few days after that, there was a follow-up interview with the hiring manager, involving more in-depth questions. The following week, I had an on-site panel interview, which consisted of 45-minute meetings with the hiring manager and the heads of five different departments. A few days after that, I was given three business cases to complete within a few business days. Two days after the deadline for the business cases, I had a final interview with the hiring manager and his director, where we discussed the cases and I had to repeat answers to questions already asked during the panel interview. A week after the final interview, which was a month after the first HR call, I received an email stating they had found candidates who were a closer match and would not be moving forward with my application. No phone call or explanation was provided, which I found unprofessional given the extensive time commitment.

I applied online and then the HR person hit me up around 2 weeks later. We set up an in-person meeting with the hiring manager for the next week. He mentioned I was the first person he was interviewing. We chatted for about an hour, and he totally agreed with me on a bunch of stuff. By the end, he let me know he had a few more interviews lined up for the week, but he'd have the recruiter reach out to schedule a second round with the team and the director. After two weeks, I nudged the recruiter about where things stood. Two days later, I got a rejection email.

I was contacted by an outsourced recruiter who set up a 30-minute call. Then I spoke with the Equifax recruiter for 30-45 minutes to get acquainted. After that, there were two more 30-45 minute interviews with a team member and the hiring manager. They were great about letting me ask questions about how my skills fit the role and areas where I might need improvement. It felt very conversational, just a typical interview, no curveballs. They wanted to understand me, my background, and my career aspirations. The whole thing took a month and a half, so be ready for that; their communication about the timeline could have been better.
