First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Environmental Protection Agency.
Environmental Protection Specialist
The interview went pretty well, there were 3 people interviewing me and they asked questions that were relevant to the job. But, after starting the job, a lot of things that were promised or said during the interview didn't really apply to the role or weren't actually done.
- What questions were relevant to the role?
Sustainability Specialist
I've gone through a few interviews with the EPA for various roles. The first step is an HR call to check if I meet the basic requirements. After that, there's usually a second round with two or more interviewers. The final stage is meeting with the department head or leadership team.
- What makes you want to work for the EPA specifically?
Data Scientist
It took about 7 months, which is unusually long. I first applied on USAJOBS and then got an email for an interview. I had two interviews in the same week. It took a couple of weeks for the formal offer to come. I tried to negotiate salary, but the OPM had new rules in place which basically made that impossible. It was quite annoying, but that's government for you.
- Can you discuss your previous experiences?
- What do you think you can bring to our team?
- Could you elaborate on your resume?
Natural Resource Specialist
It was a panel interview, with standard questions like why you wanna work here, asking for examples of past scenarios showing examples working with different stakeholders, project management skills, and similar.
- What makes you want to work for EPA region 9?
- Can you give instances where you successfully worked with different stakeholders?
- How would you describe your project management abilities?
