Software Engineer
Got contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn for a phone chat about the job. After that, I had a talk with the hiring manager, and then went for an onsite interview at Shopee's office in MN. The onsite part involved coding on a whiteboard, talking with HR and the hiring manager, and a session to see how I'd work with other teams. The recruiter kept me in the loop and gave good advice, making it easy to get ready. The interviewers were really good and knew their stuff.
- Can you solve a whiteboard coding problem using Java?
- Can you solve a whiteboard coding problem using Spring?
- Can you solve a whiteboard coding problem using React?
Software Engineer Intern
First, we talked about a general project, then there was a technical interview with a simple question. You get to decide which language to use. Two senior engineers were on the call with me for live coding. It wasn't too difficult; I'd suggest using whatever language they ask you about.
- Can you list some OOP principles?
Software Engineer
I got referred internally for this role. The interview itself was pretty standard, asking common questions like "Why Entrust?". The hiring manager was nice, and it felt more like a chat than a formal interview. There were some technical questions too, which were a bit tough because the hiring manager misunderstood some of my experience on my CV (we both messed up there), and that ended up costing me the job. I don't fault Entrust for not hiring me, but their way of letting me down was super unprofessional. Honestly, if you're thinking about working there, really think about their hiring process first. Entrust didn't even tell me themselves; they had my friend, who referred me, break the news. I never heard anything from Entrust officially, so I guess they figured it was handled by having my referee tell me.
- Can you explain when and why you would use the 'volatile' keyword in C?
- Could you describe the differences between a stack and a heap in memory management?
